03 / CarMax / Micro-frontends
Independent teams. One shared experience.
When several product teams contribute to a dashboard, the architecture has to make room for their work. I led a team building Dash at CarMax, a shared host for micro-frontend experiences.

Build a shared host
We used Webpack Module Federation to compose micro-frontends within a shared dashboard. Product teams could build experiences that became part of the common host.
- Led the team building Dash.
- Implemented the platform with Webpack Module Federation.
- Enabled product teams to build micro-frontend experiences.
Make common work reusable
Shared components gave teams building within the dashboard a common set of interface elements to reuse. The architecture combined separate product experiences with a shared frontend foundation.
- Supported reuse of common components.
- Brought product experiences together within the shared dashboard host.
Connect architecture and leadership
My role brought technical direction and team leadership together. The work focused on giving product teams a platform for their frontend experiences while supporting common components across those experiences.
The outcome
A shared dashboard platform enabling product teams to build micro-frontends and reuse common components.
